Meet the New Superfood: Baobab

by | May 14, 2019 | Nutrition, Recipe, Wellness

Baobab – pronounced Bey-Oh-Bab – is the raw fruit from the Baobab tree…native to certain regions of Africa, Australia, and Madagascar. It has long been one of the best kept nutritionist’s secrets…that is, until now!

This odd-looking fruit, with a hard shell encasing a white, powdery substance, is not one you would easily be able to identify in a line-up. However, in most parts of the world where fresh baobab is unavailable, it’s more commonly found as a dried powder.

The pulp, leaves, and seeds of the baobab fruit have been associated with many health benefits. The fruit has more than double the antioxidants per gram of goji berries, and more antioxidants than blueberries and pomegranates combined. It’s a great source of vitamin C, and is also excellent at improving alertness, energy levels, supporting the immune system, and boosting your iron levels.
