3 Healthier Salty Snacks

by | Nov 25, 2019 | Nutrition, Weight loss

Do you know what the busiest aisle at the grocery store is? It’s the CHIP aisle!!

Once in a while, we all like to snack, and the best kind of snacking is guilt-free snacking.

While some people get derailed by sweet cravings, for others, it’s the salty treats that throw them off the healthy train.

When those salty-snack cravings hit, it’s okay to give in occasionally. But when you do, there are healthy salty-snack options to satisfy your cravings…without the guilt.

TOP 3 LIST

1 Hardbite

One of the healthiest chip options you can choose is a brand called Hardbite – which are, literally, made from dehydrated vegetables.

They contain only 3 ingredients: beets, non-hydrogenated sunflower oil, and salt, and they come in carrot, parsnip and sweet potato.  They’re not just carrot, parsnip, and sweet potato ‘flavours’ either.  These snacks are the real deal…making them the healthiest chip option you can get, and they taste delicious!!

2 Beanitos

The first ingredient in Beanitos is black bean. As you go down the ingredient list, you’ll also see brown rice; the combination equals a complete protein.

So, if you ever eat half a bag of beanitos, you’re actually getting a complete serving of protein! Eating half a bag, or more, is not necessarily something we would recommend, but it just shows you how nutritious these snacks really are.

Beanitos have only 130 calories per serving with 4 grams of fiber, 4 grams of protein and 6.5 grams of healthy fats.

3 Vegan Rob’s

Vegan Rob’s have a short ingredient list. The first ingredient is rice flour.

Rice flour is made from ground raw rice, and is a staple food in Southeast Asia, Japan, and India. Rice flour is gluten free, high in protein, and high in vitamins.

Vegan Robs’ also contain: flaxseed, chia seeds, and quinoa – making them high in protein and high in fibre.

So, there you have it! Next time you have a salty craving, seek out a snack bag from our TOP 3 list and enjoy – guilt-free!!…almost.
