Yoga is much more than just poses and postures… it is a complete way of life. (And it tends to greet with open arms!!)

Students come to me for a variety of reasons. For some, it’s a way to relax, reduce stress, and escape from the perils of modern life. Others are motivated by the advice of healthcare advisors and doctors. Others still, are interested in: i) getting in tune with their balance, ii) staying grounded and harmonized; and, iii) creating a sense of overall well being. Most of my students discover yoga for a combination of these reasons and/or they seek to achieve other added personal benefits.

“Yoga, as a way of life and philosophy, can be practiced by anyone with inclination to undertake it, for yoga belongs to humanity as a whole. It is not the property of anyone group or anyone individual, but can be followed by any and all, in any corner of the globe, regardless of class, creed or religion.”
– Sri Ki Pattabhi Jois.

Yoga comes from a wide and very deep river of beautiful ancient traditions. The history of yoga is several thousand years old, and the earliest known writings regarding yoga are found in the ancient Hindu spiritual texts known as the Vedas… meaning knowledge.

All over the world, yoga studios are adapting many forms of newly found yoga including both Anasara and Kino yoga. Each practice is unique and in-depth, although many of the centred themes remain focused upon mind, body and spirit. Each of the specific yoga poses are designed to reinforce and condition the muscles around the spine – the very centre of your body – which is the core from which everything else operates.

Benefits of yoga (only a partial list!):

  1. Calms the mind
  2. Reduces stress & anxiety
  3. Increases lung capacity
  4. Peace of mind
  5. Better posture

… And the list goes on “♪ buda dumpty dump dum ♫”….
